I’ve been trying to learn about the different features on my amazing camera that Todd so generously gave me for christmas. We decided to shoot some shots at night. I must say… for a rookie they turned out quite nice. Todd might even use these for his new real estate ventures.

HAPPY 4TH!

Todd & I wanted to send warm wishes out to all of our friends and families! It’s early here in California but already you can tell the weather and the day is going to be perfect; warm, sunny and absolute perfection… Our plans are almost like a ritual that we perform each year (at least for the past 3), our friend Kevin has a great boat and a few of us pack up the snacks, food and drinks and pile in… Come back around dusk and figure out where to watch the fireworks. One year it was Kevin’s roof, another the dunes in Dover Shores… and who knows this year.

California Bound

Well we did it, Todd and I are at the Denver Airport and we accomplished everything. Today we had a full day to enjoy the beauty that this state offers. We headed east on highway 50 and stopped at the Great Gorge… the worlds highest suspension bridge. You can drive or walk across it. The views from here are breathtaking and the river runs apprx 2,000 feet below! Todd got vertigo and was nervous to take in the drop down. (this was hilarious to me as he is always the dare devil in our relationship and looking for the adrenaline rush).

From here we headed towards Colorado Springs (for the MTV/Hills viewers- Heidi Montag is from this town). We thought we took a wrong turn or had mis judged the directions because we were literally driving through the heart of the city and turned left, only to stumble upon this little piece of god’s garden! Hence the name “Garden of the Gods”. Red monstrous rocks shoot out of the earth’s surface in a serene setting/ mountainous backdrops frame the setting and the red color against the blue skies is so dynamic.

Currently we are waiting to board the last flight out to Orange County, Ca. Todd snapped a photo of me and told me that whenever he’s trying to converse or ask me something this is the view he gets… (I found this quite funny) he just happens to want to talk everytime I’m checking my messages/ facebook or texting!

Packed Up

Our last night in Salida. Todd and I had another big day. Early wakeup call but we accomplished more in one day then I probably do all week back in California! We held the last day of the moving sale, deciding to get more people to see the items we moved the remainder of items to the front yard. Todd was able to manage the sale all day while I finished packing up records, files, clothes, etc.. We were on a short time crunch as the local post offfice and fed ex close on Saturdays at 12 & 1pm. Luckily I was able to package and ship everything in a timely manner. Local donations were dropped off to the animal hospital, caring & sharing. WE took the jeep in for a “bath” and proper cleaning. By the time we were done the jeep looked the best it’s ever been. I think the new owner will be very happy with it.

Driving around town (which is only a few blocks) you start to see a lot of the same friendly faces. Salida is again a very charming, quaint town. Todd and I are in love with the charm of the historical downtown area. (walking distance to dad’s apt). WE dined tonight at a charming restaurant called “The Butcher’s Table” afterwards we walked the streets taking a few more photos. It rained while we were dining and I couldn’t resist taking a few photos of the rainbow that appeared and some shots of the corners and buildings in the evening- the wet asphalt made for a great reflection on the streets.

Salida is not Hollywood by any means but they do have an “S” on the highest hill top seen from the city. I love that hey change between a heart and an S… something symbolic of our last night in salida and saying goodbye to a small town my father enjoyed so much, if only for a few years… maybe he really did find the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow in Salida…?!

Siesta Key Beach

On the last day in FL, I took Todd down to siesta key.
He had never seen it before… he was amazed at the beaches and scenic views of the turquoise waters and baby fine powder white sandy beaches. This was where most of my youth was spent. It just happened to be the weekend of the “Siesta Fiesta” so we toured the arts and crafts booths, snacking on churros and eating lunch at the broken egg.

Florida Visit

Todd & I jumped on a plane on Tuesday night, 4/21 and flew direct to Tampa, FL. We were surprising my family, only Gayle & Liah knew we were coming. In typical Epner style- Todd & I arrived (5:30 am) and I couldn’t get ahold of Liah (figured she forgot us and slept in). But to my mis-communication she had booked us a rental car to drive down to Sarasota in and for her to drive back to the airport in the same day (smart cookie).

Todd was reintroduced to Florida. Even though we live in California, FL still has so much beauty to offer. We surprised grandma and dad by picking them up for lunch! WOW they were shocked. That was the fun part of the surprise. Hanging with dad and grandma and Liah even for a few short hours was fun.

Picnics in the park, Jimmy Buffet concerts and thrift shopping sums up the trip. A very special thanks to Brigid and Shane for offering up their concert tickets so Freddie could get a “Cheeseburger in Paradise.”

I truly do have the best friends ever!

It was great to see you dad, I love you.
